This is about a monkey that was put on a test Lab and was experimented. the monkey was presented with a red push button and every time the monkey pushes the button a banana will come out. But as he repeatedly push it there are no bananas coming out anymore until he was tired and fainted on the floor, only by then the bananas came out.
i dont get the whole point of the story but i guess it teaches us to be patient! =)

Oktapodi -- Funny Animation

this animation is entitled "oktapodi" is is about two octopus who are inlove with each other but unluckily there love is at the wrong place, a fresh sea food store. While the orange octupos tried to rescue the pink one, the driver of the delivery truck tried to separate them but failed and end up in the open sea. While the two celebrate their freedom, the orange octupos was captured by a seagul and now its time for the pink one to rescue the orange one.
love conquers all!it will do whatever it takes just to be with the one it belongs.
The animation is so simple yet the message was clearly revealed!

Cheese - Funny Animation

The Video is all about a rat who tried to find a way to eat the cheese placed above a mouse trap. To satisfy his craving for the delicious cheese and at the same time save himself from being trap to death he used a match stick to hold back the trap. The worked and he ate the cheese little by little savoring its taste. But as he eat the cheese the match stick he placed under the trap move little by little until it was removed from the it's place. By then the mouse finished already eating the cheese and he is relaxing now with his tummy full. But he still smells a tiny piece of cheese that he decided to eat it and because of his greed, he was trap and eventually died!
The lesson their is that greediness can lead you to death....So share your blessings..hahaha

A story about an ugly doll that is an outcast because ugliness that even a drunkard would curse him. He walked away from his neighborhood and stayed to a placed where he is alone. But an ugly girl came and for the first time he is not alone. An ugly boy and an ugly girl, together they look beautiful.=)
The films looks like a stop motion animation for it uses dolls as its character. The background music also adds detail to the film making the main character looks more "kawawa' and a "loser". Sometimes the camera movement is not appropriate for the scene that is taken.Sometimes "masakit sa mata".=)

The film is "bitin" and boring.Although the sound is cool for it plays a piano and the graphics is great but outside of that its boring and the story is not that interesting for an animated film. The guy was so "torpe" that he can't even go near to girl and he only looks at her by the window. Well they said that if you really love someone you will really have hard time to express your love. But the question is how would that person know that you love him'her?!Take your chances, after all you will lose nothing if you try...!=)

The short story is about a photographer who is alone in life who take pictures of places,animals and even people. After he take pictures he will develop it in his dark room and put it together in his house to create a scenery.Then he take a picture of a woman and develop it into a life size picture. He pretended that he had a date when that woman but only realized that still he is alone. He cried in his table then suddenly the cardboard woman he made moved and have life. They enjoyed the time together the cardboard woman had life and the photographer was turned into a cardboard!
The film shows that man really seeks and pursue his own happiness and and would try everything just ton reach that happiness he aims.Sometimes we fail,but the effort we did will remind us that we are the one who makes our own path in life and this path is determined by the choices we chose, whether it could be happiness or something else

Honestly i realy don't get the story of the film.But I still posted it because I think its cool.The setting of the film is not that usual funny looking cartoons that makes everybody laugh.At first, there was a woman and a young girl playing a piano beisde a cliff near the sea.The, suddenly a group of raven came and after they left a man in weird custome showed up,the woman hug the man and bid goodbye to the little girl.The gurl was confused anf followed them by a small boat by the near island.As she saw the man and the woman that was with her earlier at the tip of the cliff she started to wrestle the man, but when the man removed his hat the girl recognized him and hug him. The man and the woman held hands together nad the group of ravens showed up again and when the ravens were gone the man and the woman vanished with them.The girl was left alone.
The setting of the film is fantastic, the lighting effects suits the mood of the film giving it a gloomy and confusing output.The soundtrack also gives more story to the film.A confusing yet an amazing film!=)

This is a short animated film which portrays a hard working kiwi who wanted to fly. As we all know kiwis cannot fly. The kiwi bird in the film wanted to fly and to fulfill his dream of flying, he nailed trees on a side of a cliff then jump afterwards. The kiwi seems like really flying but at the end he died as he arrive at the foot of the cliff.

The film shows determination to fulfill ones dream. and that determination would lead you to a path that would make your dream come true even many will say its impossible...

A Map Leading to Quiapo

Trip to Quiapo is a script writing manual written by one of the Philippines' local script writing guru; Ricky Lee. Trip to Quiapo is a book written to inspire and also to guide those who are new in the field of script writing and to those who wishes to enter the world of script writing.
In the beginning pace of the book Mr. Lee describes or illustrates the life or the characteristics of the three different travelers who went to Quiapo using different ways or method. The first traveler used the usual way/road to get there so he arrive their early and fast. The second traveler made his own way and take the risk. On his way to Quiapo, he had a hard time for the road he toke but got their safe, the second traveler was brave enough to take a risk on choosing a road in going to Quiapo unlike the first traveler who chooses the more convenient and the usual road that many others toke before. Now the third and the last traveler decided to also take a different way and go to a different Quiapo, a Quiapo that he made out of his idea. Mr. Lee explains that the first traveler is like a script writer who chooses to go with the flow or make a script that most writers writes. The second traveler is like a script writer who chooses and makes his own way or own script yet the result is a high quality one. The third and last traveler is like a script writer who gambled and tried to make his own way, his own style of writing and arrive to a new and better Quiapo, a new and better product. Which traveler are you now? What a great message to open a book, it sure helps the readers to be excite and to be curious what is the book really all about.
In the book trip to Quiapo, Mr. Lee illustrate,explains and gives examples on the different ingredients and the different elements and formulas on how to write a good script. From the mos simple to the most complicated scripts. He also gives examples from different international and local films to explains further each topic that he discuss. He even interviewed some of the most promising script writers, directors, video editors and cinematographers in the local film industry.The overall content of the book is all about the stages in script writing;the pre-writing stage, the writing stage and the post-writing stage. Each stage he discuss every techniques,and even problems that a writer could face during that stages. At the end part of the book,Mr. Lee wrote some articles about the hardships and triumphs that a script writer can get and even wrote some letters from his co-script writer friends who experiences also the hardships and the sweet success Mr. Ricky Lee savored in his life being a script writer.
I would say that the book entitled Trip to Quiapo is a good and an inspirational book for those young and active script writers who needs more encouragement and guide from an expert. The book shows some possible problem that a script writer could encounter but also provided encouragement on not giving up and even give tips on how to deal with such problems. It also uses figurative writing using those common things that we see every day to illustrate further the subject matter he wanted to present to his reader. But even the greatest author of the greatest book ever written also commits mistakes. Who does not, we are only humans and its our nature to commit mistakes. I only notice few things in Mr. Lee's book that made me confuse and sometimes loss my interest to read. Mr. Lee sometimes tend to uses terms and do not define it it first that made me not to understand what he is trying to deliver and also some or most of the movies he uses as his examples are the movies that was shown during the 70's
, 80's and the early 90's which young readers like me is not familiar.Lastly, its my first time to read a script writing guide book that was written in taglish (Tagalog-English), I think it would be much formal if he wrote it in pure English or pure Tagalog.
But the book was good, it provided a lot of information and new learnings about script writing even what is life behind the big screen, the life of those people that work hard to provide us good and quality films that most of us didn't commend for the hard work they did just for us to be entertain.If your a young mind curious and wanted to enter the amazing world of film industry particularly in to the island where script writers dwell,Then Mr. Ricky Lee's Trip to Quiapo is for you to read....!Enjoy

A direction from the Director

Last January 26-27, 2008 an independent film maker that is based in Davao Mr.Gutierez Mangansakan II conducted a seminar about basic directing.The said seminar was attended by the BSIT students, MassCom students and some of the faculty and staff of Ateneo de Zamboanga University, and I am one of the participant of that workshop.
Personally,I would say that the workshop was great.The speaker was indeed and expert when it comes into the field of film and film making.From the said seminar I learned some does and don't s in film making, what are the basic needs and the basic rules in film making and how the field of film making evolved from that much expensive project before down to the cheap yet high quality films as of this times that independent film makers produces like Mr. Gutierez Mangansakan.I also learn the different position and angles of the camera when shooting a film,from midi shot to medium shot,from close up to extreme close up and from long shot to extreme long shot. Each kind of shot has its own time, and principles on when and how to use to make your film effective and would be a blockbuster hit.
Mr.Gutierez also imparted to us and some young film enthusiast whom he handle workshop before a very important element or character a film director and every member of the film making team should posses;discipline,dedication to work and self motivation.The most important element in film making that can never be teach and can never be bought.

Blogging is one of the most common phrase or word that a computer enthusiast can hear or see over a computer screen and in the cyberworld. But what those blogging really means or what is a blog?!According to wikipedia.org a blog (a portmanteu of web log) is a website where entries are commonly displayed in reverse chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.
But if we look or search more deeper into what is a blog really is and what it could really do,many new informations about what is a blog comes out than some online dictionaries provide.

Last January,our teacher Mr. Ryann Z. Elumba in our ITMM 105 subject with Mr. Romeo "Sonny Boy" Rabajante Jr. our ITMM 103 teacher held a seminar about blog/blogging and they called it as BLOGGING 101... The said seminar provided me new information about blogging...
In that seminar, I knew that there is a movement in the Philippines especially in Mindanao to localized the blog content of the local bloggers who lived in this place. The group of Mindanao bloggers agreed all together to make the content of their blogs local and would provide information about Mindanao.
In that seminar also I learned that making your blog unique from the others is important to attract more readers and also keeping your blog updated is a factor to the blog readers worldwide.

What is Computer Aided Instruction?

“Computer-assisted instruction” (CAI) refers to instruction or remediation presented on a computer. Many educational computer programs are available online and from computer stores and textbook companies. They enhance teacher instruction in several ways.

Just as word-processing on personal computers revolutionized the ways that all writers worked, fully networked computer classrooms can improve the ways we teach composition at every level. Students with word processors tend to write more than those who must write longhand (and with greater legibility), but composition CAI (Computer Aided Instruction) involves more than just generating text. In a well-equipped computer classroom and with proper training, instructors can do everything they could do in a standard classroom, but the computers allow them to accomplish many additional goals that would otherwise be difficult or impossible. Projection screens enhance demonstrations and allow for shared-screen work; local network servers facilitate paperless transfer of files; access to the Internet can turn each seat into a library; and on-line conferencing can make the students more active, written participation by every student.

One of the most important reasons why CAI was created is that students like learning in the environment that the computer has to offer. CAI packages of today are much more user-friendly and entertaining than their ancestors. “These technologies move us light years beyond the boring drill that early educational software promoted, and allow highly engaging activities like multimedia simulation.” (Gifford, 1993) Students can now work at their own pace regardless of the level at which they are supposed to be. This promotes self-confidence because it gives the student a feeling of control over what they are learning. “The computer has allowed the student to become a more active participant in his/her education...” (Matray & Proulx, 1995)

Contrary to traditional teaching methods, CAI helps the student to remain focused on the topic at hand. In a classroom, it is easy for students to simply nod their heads every time the teacher looks in their direction. However, CAI programs insure that students pay attention and understand by constantly testing them on the information they are being taught. This is especially helpful in teaching subjects with which students often have difficulty. One example of such an application is a program that teaches Newton’s Third Law. A study was conducted, demonstrating this program’s effectiveness. The teachers found that the students were very inventive and actually enjoyed learning this normally difficult topic. “The use of these methods saved considerable class time and, best of all, post-test results show that the students absorb, internalized and retained the Newton’s third law (the end of the school year).” (Malone & Reiland, 1995)

Computer Aided instruction are also effective because they deal with more practical examples than those a textbook can offer and give students virtually a hands-on experience. Students may be exposed to experiences or mock-ups that they would not normally encounter. (Mumford, 1992) Group work has also become a much more important part of the classroom environment. Similar to the workplace students are encouraged to collaborate their ideas and thoughts with other members of their “team”. This is becoming a necessary skill which will benefit these students for the rest of their lives.

CAI technology has brought with it radical changes to the conventional classroom/laboratory. Teachers, students and parents have all been required to change their role in education. The teacher’s role has changed “from that of an oracle of knowledge to a guide and/or resource person.” (Matray & Proulx, 1995) As previously mentioned, students have changed from complacent, passive onlookers to active participants in the classroom. CAI has encouraged students to “explore more and memorize less.” (Matray & Proulx, 1995) Now more than ever, parents are strongly encouraged to take an active part in their child’s education. Since the software programs are available on the market, parents have the chance to bring education into the home at an affordable price.

Examples of CAI applications include guided drill and practice exercises, computer visualization of complex objects, and computer-facilitated communication between students and teachers. The number of computers in American schools has risen from one for every 125 students in 1981 to one for every nine students in 1996. While the United States leads the world in the number of computers per school student, Western European and Japanese schools are also highly computerized.

Information that helps teach or encourages interaction can be presented on computers in the form of text or in multimedia formats, which include photographs, videos, animation, speech, and music. The guided drill is a computer program that poses questions to students, returns feedback, and selects additional questions based on the students' responses. Recent guided drill systems incorporate the principles of education in addition to subject matter knowledge into the computer program.

Computers also can help students visualize objects that are difficult or impossible to view. For example, computers can be used to display human anatomy, molecular structures, or complex geometrical objects. Exploration and manipulation of simulated environments can be accomplished with CAI—ranging from virtual laboratory experiments that may be too difficult, expensive, or dangerous to perform in a school environment to complex virtual worlds like those used in airplane flight simulators.

CAI tools, such as word processors, spreadsheets, and databases, collect, organize, analyze, and transmit information. They also facilitate communication among students, between students and instructors, and beyond the classroom to distant students, instructors, and experts.

The Bee Movie

“My Reaction”

After watching the film entitled “The Bee Movie” Sir Romeo our teacher in our ITMM 103 asked us to answer the following questions.

1. What is your significant learning about the movie?

First I would say that the movie is great and its one of a kind. Every part of the movie you can find or get a significant learning which I would say great and striking. Considering that the main character of the movie is a BEE which is consider one of the smallest creatures in the world. But how they live there like in the spirit of what we call TEAMWORK is astonishing. They consider every member of the hive as important as the others. But if there is one thing I learned in the movie that is the when the main bee character Barry Vincent said to his fellow bee that doing something small things perfectly would create a big difference without being conscious of it. Take that huge, powerful and striking word from a small but courageous bee creature whom the bee world is proud of.

2. Which part of the movie that strike you the most?

My favorite part of the movie that strikes me the most is the part that the entire bee gathered all together and saves the airplane that is about to crash because the pilot gone unconscious. TEAMWORK can be seen in that stunning scene. In the field that I choose to have my profession teamwork is important. Being in the multimedia world is not a one man show but a matter of teamwork and respect to each member of the team.

3. Having your significant learning with you, what can you possible do or promote in your website that would have a social relevance?

Having my significant learning from the movie, now I could possible do or promote in my website about unity, teamwork and doing your job right and perfect. Even though your job is less important than the other, still it is needed for the society to run well. Take for example a single peso, one million pesos can never be a million if a peso is lacking. Be proud of your job and in what you do for you play a role in your society, it maybe small but still its important…

Video Production; Cast and Crew

Harhar....after Atfest'07 here I am again posting another blog.... Obviously this blog will be discussing about the different cast and crew of a video production team as what the the title of this blog shows...I know many of you really likes to watch movies, it may be horror, comedy, suspense, or action...sci-fi or animated movies, local or international...We don't care what the movie is all about as long as we enjoyed the movie...add to that enjoyment when we are with someone special...ooooiiiiii....ahm...ahm....special popcorn..hahahhaha..
But we don't know who are the people behind the production aside from the the actors/actress, directors, and the producers, other than that we can hardly identify other important people who contributed also their time, effort and talent to make the movie a successful one....Much of the blahh, blahh, blahh...if you want to know them and dreamed to be one of them, give a shot to this blog and add this to your memory.....harhar

Producers- are in charge of the overall organization of a production, be it a network comedy, a local station newscast, a cable TV sportscast, a syndicated soap opera, a public broadcasting music concert, an interactive video game, or a corporate training tape. As a producer, you are responsible for seeing that all the elements of a program are in the right place at the right time. Have the actors been cast? Has the fog machine been ordered? Where will the cast and crew eat? Producers often initiate a project and see that it is finished on-time and on-budget. That’s why sometimes a producer is called the budget officer in a Video Production team, for he is the one budgeting the money and time for the production.

Director- a director has been linked to a symphony conductor. The various crew members are each playing their own “instruments” (camera, audio board, video recorder, etc.), and it is the director who coordinates them and sets the overall pace of the program.

Associate Directors- (sometimes referred to as the assistant director or AD) helps the director with various tasks. For this reason, some of the duties the AD is assigned differ from program to program, depending on the philosophy and work style of the director. One director may want you to set up all the on-air camera shots so he or she can concentrate on last minute details, aesthetic decisions, and the actual takes on air. Other directors want you just to sit nearby to remind them of what is coming up next.

Stage Managers- (also called floor manager or the floor director) is the director’s key assistant in charge of what is happening in the studio. When you assume this role, your main job is to communicate with the talent. The director is in the control room during the actual production and cannot give instruction directly to the performers who, generally, are not wearing head sets. Therefore, such instructions are relayed by the stage manager, mainly through hand signals, but sometimes with flip cards.

Camera Operators- are the people who, based on instructions from the director, frame the shots for the program. To do this job, you must understand the operation of the camera thoroughly so that you can physically move the camera while keeping the image steady and in focus. You must pay particular attention to how the camera interacts with the lighting so that the picture is not overexposed or underexposed. In addition, you must an aesthetic sense so that the pictures are properly composed. The camera operator frames, from a broad panorama, what the viewer will see.

Teleprompter Operators- are mirrors that fit over the front of a camera lens and show the talents the script. Usually all the cameras are equipped with a teleprompter so that the talent turns from one camera to another and see the same script. The viewers do not see this script, but the talent can read it while looking directly at the camera lens. Someone has to control the rate that the script crawls up the teleprompter so that it does not get either ahead of or behind the talent. That someone is the teleprompter operator.

Lighting Director- the Lighting director (LD) is in charge of seeing that the lights are properly set for the telecast and that any lighting effects needed during the telecast can be executed. Usually this person has a crew that actually places and adjusts the lights while the LD makes sure the overall effect is accomplished.

Audio Operators- some of the work that is done in connection with audio is undertaken in the audio is undertaken in the studio and some is in the control room.

Technical Directors- the technical director (TD) operates the switcher, the piece of equipment that selects which video signal (camera 1, a videotape segment, camera 2 with graphics over it, etc). will go out over the airwaves or onto videotape. This piece of equipment can be used simply to cut from one picture to another, but most modern switchers are capable of executing a large number of special effects- wipes, swirls, squeezes, etc. like the audio console, the switcher has a large number of buttons, knobs and levers, and you must become adept at operating them quickly.

Graphics Operators- the graphics operator is in charge of the computer system that is used to create words, drawings and various visual effects. These includes such things as opening and closing credits, temperatures used for the weathercasts, short animated sequences used in commercials, statistics for sportscast, and bar graphs used for corporate productions.

Video Operators- at the present time, the person who plays back and/or records video signals is usually referred to the VCR operator and operates a videocassette recorder (VCR). However, devices other than VCRs, such as video disc recorders and computer drives, are now being used to record video and audio, so the term video operator is starting to be used.

Editors- the editor’s job is to piece together different shots or scenes taped in the studio or the field to create unified piece of work. Sometimes all the editor’s work occurs afterwards. With some of the newer editing systems, editors can even edit while a program is in progress, but this is rare. Of course, some shows, such as live telecast of a telethon, do not require an editor at all.

Other Positions- a raft of people are needed for TV production. Sometimes people called Production Assistants undertake all the little jobs that need to be done- distributing scripts to cast and crew, moving flower pots, getting coffee for everyone, etc. for a large unionized production, specialist undertake specific jobs- a propmaster places and handles all props, painters and carpenters are available to touch up sets, makeup artist apply makeup to talents, grips carry cable and other things. All of these people are usually around before, during and after production to handle setup, production miscellany, and cleanup on a n as-needed basis.

Cast- these are the people viewers see in their TV screens, the ones who acts or report. They are the main “star” of the show or often called as “talents”. A distinction often made between two groups of talent: (1) those who serve essentially as communicators, portraying no role except as a host or reporter; and (2) those in dramatic roles who are portraying some theatrical character. The first category is referred as performers, while the second group is to as actors/actress. Although two groups share many characteristics and concerns, it may be helpful to look at them separately in terms of what you need to do when you are in one of these roles.

Helo guys, its been a long time since I posted my last blog, I was busy spending my semestral break somewhere out there. But this time let’s get back to business as in SCHOOL business. I’m now taking up ITMM 105 Film and Video tools production as one o my major subject for this semester. One of our requirements in this course is to make blog of a given topic. Since the course outline is all about Film and Video Tools Production, our instructor Mr. Ryann Elumba requested us to write a blog about the History of digital video and its changes and how it changes through time. Starting in the late 70s to the early 80s, several types of video production equipment, such as time base correctors (TBC) and digital video effects (DVE) units (two of the latter being the Ampex ADO, and the NEC DVE), were introduced that would operate by taking a standard analog video input and internally digitizing it. This made it easier to either correct or enhance the video signal, as in the case of a TBC, or to manipulate and add effects to the video, in the case of a DVE unit. The digitized and processed video from these units would then be converted back to standard analog video.

Later on in the 1970s, manufacturers of professional video broadcast equipment, such as Bosch (through their Fernseh division), RCA, and Ampex developed prototype digital videotape recorders in their research and development labs. Bosch's machine used a modified 1" Type B transport, and recorded an early form of CCIR 601 digital video. None of these machines from these manufacturers were ever marketed commercially, however.

Digital video was first introduced commercially in 1986 with the Sony D-1 format, which recorded an uncompressed standard definition component video signal in digital form instead of the high-band analog forms that had been commonplace until then. Due to the expense, D-1 was used primarily by large television networks. It would eventually be replaced by cheaper systems using compressed data, most notably Sony's Digital Betacam, still heavily used as a field recording format by professional television producers.

Consumer digital video first appeared in the form of QuickTime, Apple Computer's architecture for time-based and streaming data formats, which appeared in crude form around 1990. Initial consumer-level content creation tools were crude, requiring an analog video source to be digitized to a computer-readable format. While low-quality at first, consumer digital video increased rapidly in quality, first with the introduction of playback standards such as MPEG-1 and MPEG-2 (adopted for use in television transmission and DVD media), and then the introduction of the DV tape format allowing recording direct to digital data and simplifying the editing process, allowing non-linear editing systems to be deployed wholly on desktop computers.

Digital camera technology is directly related to and evolved from the same technology that recorded television images. In 1951, the first video tape recorder (VTR) captured live images from television cameras by converting the information into electrical impulses (digital) and saving the information onto magnetic tape. Bing Crosby laboratories (the research team funded by Crosby and headed by engineer John Mullin) created the first early VTR and by 1956, VTR technology was perfected (the VR1000 invented by Charles P. Ginsburg and the Ampex Corporation) and in common use by the television industry. Both television/video cameras and digital cameras use a CCD (Charged Coupled Device) to sense light color and intensity.

During the 1960s, NASA converted from using analog to digital signals with their space probes to map the surface of the moon (sending digital images back to earth). Computer technology was also advancing at this time and NASA used computers to enhance the images that the space probes were sending.

Digital imaging also had another government use at the time that being spy satellites. Government use of digital technology helped advance the science of digital imaging, however, the private sector also made significant contributions. Texas Instruments patented a film-less electronic camera in 1972, the first to do so. In August, 1981, Sony released the Sony Mavica electronic still camera, the camera which was the first commercial electronic camera. Images were recorded onto a mini disc and then put into a video reader that was connected to a television monitor or color printer. However, the early Mavica cannot be considered a true digital camera even though it started the digital camera revolution. It was a video camera that took video freeze-frames.

Since the mid-1970s, Kodak has invented several solid-state image sensors that "converted light to digital pictures" for professional and home consumer use. In 1986, Kodak scientists invented the world's first megapixel sensor, capable of recording 1.4 million pixels that could produce a 5x7-inch digital photo-quality print. In 1987, Kodak released seven products for recording, storing, manipulating, transmitting and printing electronic still video images. In 1990, Kodak developed the Photo CD system and proposed "the first worldwide standard for defining color in the digital environment of computers and computer peripherals." In 1991, Kodak released the first professional digital camera system (DCS), aimed at photojournalists. It was a Nikon F-3 camera equipped by Kodak with a 1.3 megapixel sensor.

The first digital cameras for the consumer-level market that worked with a home computer via a serial cable were the Apple QuickTake 100 camera (February 17 , 1994), the Kodak DC40 camera (March 28, 1995), the Casio QV-11 (with LCD monitor, late 1995), and Sony's Cyber-Shot Digital Still Camera (1996).

Facing the Inevitability of Death

We are all going to die. Death is total and all-encompassing. We must face this inevitability of death if we are to conquer the fear of death and live life to the fullest.So what happens the moment after we breathe our last breath here and take in our first breath in the hereafter?The Bible describes in detail the meeting that all of us will have one day after we die. The Scriptures describe the players, what they bring to the table, the goals of the meeting, and everything surrounding this event.Amazingly, though, many people are unprepared for the most important meeting in the universe. Although the Bible tells them in explicit detail what to expect and how to prepare for this meeting, they will be confronted with the sad realization that they ignored God’s advice.Immediately after our bodies die, our souls will be transported to an eternal existence in the spiritual realm. What that means for the Christian, the believer in Christ, is an instantaneous trip into the presence of the Lord. For the unbeliever, who will also live on after physical death, the opposite will be true. When they are absent from the body, they will be separated from God in eternity as they await the final judgment.Then the Bible tells us that at some point in the future, when the body of Christ is complete , God will caught us up (rapture) and we will be meeting Him in the air. This simply means that the bodies of those who have died will be reunited with their souls. After the resurrection of the dead, the believer and unbeliever alike will be judged.What will be the benchmark by which we are judged on that fateful day during that cosmic scene with Almighty?God will be looking for one thing and one thing only in this meeting. He will look at our lives to see if a cosmic transaction has taken place, if we have received what his Son did for us on the Cross.Ephesians 1:13-14 explains the process by which someone makes this transaction and what occurs: “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.”I love that word seal because when we make that defining-moment decision to receive Christ, our very lives are stamped with the person of God in the form of the Holy Spirit. When we make the commitment to Christ, all of our sinfulness, guilt, shame, and pain are transferred to his shoulders. And all of His forgiveness, love, righteousness, and grace are transferred to our shoulders. That is the cosmic transaction.What is flashing across your heart today?
